Sew you want to learn?
Sewing classes are conducted in my home, the Kismet Cottage, and sewers are welcome from all over the BC interior. Each level introduces new techniques while reinforcing the ones you already know. You learn skills that apply to anything you sew, from your own clothing and mending to home decor. You dont have to own a machine to learn as everything you'll need is available in the Studio. You learn in a non-intimidating, comfy, cozy, and fun environment. Individual attention is a given, as there are only 4 students per class.
If your schedule does not fit into any of the class dates we have sscheduled, give us a call and we will do our best to set up one that does.

Now let’s make it fit…
Fitting is without a doubt the most difficult task in sewing to prefect. During the lessons in this 4 week class, we will concentrate on getting your project to fit just right without the time and effort of making a muslin first, and learn some easy methods of fitting that don't involve pages of measurements. If you are generally 'hard to fit', you won't be after taking this class. Bring your own pattern and fabric, or choose from those available in the Studio at unbelievably low prices.

Attending workshops started me on the path to opening the Sewers Studio. In the past few years, I traveled to Victoria, Vancouver, Toronto, Portland, and Seattle, participating in workshops in pattern drafting, advanced sewing and fitting techniques taught by professionals like Ron Collins/Sandra Betzina (expert designers for Vogue), Claire Shaffer (internationally famous Trainer), Palmer/Pletsch Sewing Academy, Alexandra Morgan (professional pattern designer) to name a few. I believed that if I was willing to fly great distances to get this type of advanced training, there were likely other sewers in the Okanagan who would also like such training, and have it come to them. Thus the Sewing Studio was born. If there is a particular topic you would like training on, like making jeans, lingerie, knits, and lots of etc's., let us know and we'll set it up. The first workshop is being set for early in the New Year on 'making every garment fit to a tee'. A pre-registration list is has already been started. Get your name down now so you don't miss out!
